What to Expect on Showday

The Hawkesbury Show welcomes hundreds of visitors each year from the village and surrounding areas, to watch and participate in a full day of activities. The main events of the day begin at 12.30pm when the gates open to visitors. Th Show Carnival of walkers in fancy dress, decorated floats and the Carnival King or Queen on their float, process through the village to the Showground, preceded by a Silver Band.

Prizes are awarded to the carnival classes in the main arena before this space becomes dedicated to entertainment for the rest of the day. This year, we are lucky enough to have the popular freestyle mountain bike stunt team Savage Skills joining us, as well as a dog agility display from Paws for Thought. The variety of entertainment on offer will continue throughout the day, including the ever popular tractor-pull challenge. The show marquee will be open displaying all category entries and the winners, which is always the main draw of the event.

Fairground rides, provided by Roger’s Fair are available for young and old alike, and a wide variety of food and drink will be on offer across the showground, with vendors ranging from the hog roast to the Pimms Tent, as well as refreshments in the Village Hall for those who wish for a moment to sit down in the quiet. There will also be stalls right round the arena, ranging from delicious artisan cheeses to handmade gifts to representatives from local charities.

Showday closes with the auction of selected prize winning produce in the Beer Tent, followed by live music well into the evening. Some fairground rides, side stalls and food outlets will remain open during this time.

All timings are approximate and may change during the day. For on-the-day information about entertainments, a full list of stalls, and any changes to scheduled events, please refer to the FREE PROGRAMME which will be available at the entry gate, in the village hall and at the beer tent.

9.50am, 9.55am	10 and 5 minute warning bells. NO entries can be accepted after judging starts at 10.00am
10.00am – 1.00pm	Marquee closed for judging to take place
12.30pm	Showground opens to visitors
12.30pm – 2.00pm	High Street CLOSED to vehicles
12.30pm – 1.00pm	Carnival floats and walkers in fancy dress assemble at The Plain
1.00pm	Crowning of the Carnival Queen & King
1.05pm – 1.30pm	Carnival procession along High Street
1.30pm – 1.45pm	Awarding of prizes to Carnival classes in the arena
2.00pm – 5.00pm	Entertainment in the arena – see the free Show Programme for timings (available at the Entry Gate)
5.20pm	Presentation of prizes, including the Chairman’s Award
5.00pm – 6.00pm	Prize money available for collection in the marquee. Entrants may remove their produce and exhibits which are not to be included in the auction.
5.45pm	Raffle called
6.15pm	Auction of donated produce
7.00pm	Marquee and Hall closed, live music in the beer tent

All exhibits left in the marquee after 6.00pm will be auctioned.
Mobile toilets, some fairground rides and food outlets will remain open during the evening entertainment.
